Number one: Knowledge and Design The opening of D+R is in the name of Knowledge and Design, with an attempt to provide a selection of related significant contributions the international community has recently produced. Most of the selected papers have already been presented in relevant international conferences. Nevertheless, they were never translated and published in Italy. The contributions come from different countries and represent a variety of thoughts about knowledge and industrial design. It is the editors' intention to welcome heterogeneity and enlarge cultural perspectives. The next theme issue of the journal will be "Design: Search and Research". Submissions for this issue are now invited.
