Design
and research in the third world:
the structure of a model applied to the
design of preschool furniture
As
opposed to the conditions existing in developed countries, where industrial
design participates as a factor of economic and technologicaldevelopment,
in the third world, given the social conditions of the majority of the population,
research in this field should prioritise product usability. In this way,
the development of a pre-school desk project ispresented, founded on scientific
research and structured in four phases - formulationof the problem, ergonomic
investigation, design requirements, and development - where, in addition
to the technological and aesthetic innovation, the product's functional
quality is quite satisfactorily achieved, in a model of Industrial Design
research for the Third World.
