This
essay focuses on research undertaken while I was a Fulbright Scholar in
Italy and a Visiting Artist in Residence at the American Academy in Rome
1996-1997.
The topic of this paper is the emergence and impact of information-based
products upon the professional activity of industrial design and how this
development may lead to changes in the profession.
